This novel marks the much awaited final confrontation between Harry Potter, the chosen one and Voldemort, the one who must not be named. No doubt the best in the series, this novel holds a guinness book record for most novels sold within 24 hours of release.

The novel begins by giving an insight to the readers about the torment through which the muggle born witches and wizards had to go through as well as Voldemort's tyranny. Thereby turning the entire magical society into a nightmare and Hogwarts no exception with Severus Snape installed as the new headmaster. As the story begins , we can realize that the trio is on the run finding the horcruxes, which are the keys to the dark lord's doom, while Harry still coping up with the loss of his mentor, Albus Dumbledore.

The readers will have several hair rising moments through out the novel , be it the escape in the beginning or the destruction of each horcrux or the monumental battle at the end, the novel keeps the readers glued to the pages. We can see some amazing character development such as Neville, from an awkward child to a true gryffindor as well as Snape whose startling revelation takes the readers by surprise.

The author has a limited third person narrative, limited because the point of view has access only to Harry's emotions. However Harry's connection to the dark lord's mind gives us glimpses of the latter's emotions thereby solidifying his cruel nature.

Though the author tries to tie the loose ends left behind , the novel is somewhat in a dark mood. The older readers might be impressed with the maturity and the twists in the plot. While the young novice readers might find the revelation of new information in every chapter complex and abhor the violence.

The most poignant element of the story is Voldemort's obsession with a pure blood society which can be considered as a counterpart to the Nazi regimes in Germany. The greatest evident is that when in the ministry the  golden fountain is replaced by a giant statue of a witch and wizard carved on the mounds of muggles.

The author is successful in conveying the message of hope, true friendship and self sacrifice through the characters. The undying loyalty of Hermione and Ron for Harry, despite the danger posed on their respective families, gives us major friendship goals. The story has successfully brought out the point that one's true powers are the loved ones and their love and with that one can defeat the evilest of forces.

I would recommend this book to the adventure and fantasy lovers. This book keeps the reader spellbound and hankering for more. But if one is looking for something very practical and logical then this book is not for them. Rowling will definitely remembered as the creator of a great work piece and Harry Potter as one of the most loved characters, by the future readers.

This isn't a Feminist Mark : A poem by Anushka Jana

However much we think, Or hate the colour pink, Can we be fearless like you? Or be as daring as you? Do you think we’ve purpose, Like delicate flowers, a simple rose? To exhibit when it’s fresh, And throw when reduced to flesh?   Will it be a sin to do? Things that most of you do, Blaming, shaming and curbing us, We wonder how many of us you did curse! And why would you do so? Because we let our ambitions grow? Because we step out of veils And look fabulous in our esteem, Or because we love ourselves And try to look out of kitchen shelves? We dream to invent remedies, To sign important treaties, Pen down novels without pen names And excel in various games. Driving cars and repairing lights And guarding streets on dark nights And to speak, to debate, We want to do things and not wait. And we didn’t sink our hearts, Neither focus only on sewing skirts, Nor on only cooking for your bunch of kids, But we tried to help ...

SDG Story Writing Contest (1st Prize Winner) : Who is the Best---The 17 SDGs by Rumish Ali Saif, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, India

A civilization rides on the shoulders of its youth force. And when the question is of existence or sustenance of the planet as a whole, the children and the youth of the entire world need to come together, think together and act together to make that possible. Let us read what some of them have to say to us through their stories on SDGs, ponder on what they are trying to say, act accordingly and try and change our ways of life. Perhaps this is the only way we can ensure that human civilization is not wiped out of the face of this Earth.
