The Essence of Swaraj - A write-up by Funlishian Aishi Das, Grade VIII

The Essence of Swaraj

On the historic day of August 15th, 1947, a nation rose from the shackles of colonial oppression to embrace freedom. India, a land rich in culture, diversity, and resilience, embarked on a remarkable journey towards freedom, leaving a permanent mark on the annals of history. The story of India's independence is not merely a chronicle of political struggle; it is a saga of courage, sacrifice, and firm determination that continues to inspire generations.

The road to independence was paved with the blood, sweat, and tears of countless individuals who dared to dream of a better tomorrow. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, and countless others became the symbol of hope, igniting the flame of revolution in the hearts of millions. The non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi, through acts like the Salt March, showcased the power of unity and commitment to justice.

However, the journey was not without its trials and tribulations. The sacrifices made by ordinary citizens, who often gave up their lives, livelihoods, and comforts, serve as a poignant reminder of the depth of commitment to the cause. Families were torn apart, dreams were shattered, and lives were forever changed, all in the pursuit of a free and sovereign nation. The emotional weight of those sacrifices echoes in the collective memory of the nation.

Independence Day is a reminder that dreams, even in the face of insurmountable odds, can become reality. The resilience displayed by the Indian populace in the face of adversity speaks to the heart of the human spirit. It demonstrates that passion, perseverance, and a shared vision can overcome any obstacle.

As the Tiranga unfurls in the sky on each Independence Day, it symbolizes the triumph of unity over division, hope over despair, and freedom over oppression. The celebrations remind us that the journey towards progress is an ongoing one, demanding our active participation in the continued growth and development of our beloved nation. This day prompts us to foster inclusivity and work towards a future where every citizen thrives.

Independence Day is a testament to the indomitable will of humans. It's a reminder of the sacrifices and struggles that ensured the nation's freedom. As we celebrate the 76th Independence Day, let us renew our commitment to a united, progressive, and harmonious India—a legacy worthy of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighter.

This isn't a Feminist Mark : A poem by Anushka Jana

However much we think, Or hate the colour pink, Can we be fearless like you? Or be as daring as you? Do you think we’ve purpose, Like delicate flowers, a simple rose? To exhibit when it’s fresh, And throw when reduced to flesh?   Will it be a sin to do? Things that most of you do, Blaming, shaming and curbing us, We wonder how many of us you did curse! And why would you do so? Because we let our ambitions grow? Because we step out of veils And look fabulous in our esteem, Or because we love ourselves And try to look out of kitchen shelves? We dream to invent remedies, To sign important treaties, Pen down novels without pen names And excel in various games. Driving cars and repairing lights And guarding streets on dark nights And to speak, to debate, We want to do things and not wait. And we didn’t sink our hearts, Neither focus only on sewing skirts, Nor on only cooking for your bunch of kids, But we tried to help you pay h

SDG Story Writing Contest (1st Prize Winner) : Who is the Best---The 17 SDGs by Rumish Ali Saif, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, India

A civilization rides on the shoulders of its youth force. And when the question is of existence or sustenance of the planet as a whole, the children and the youth of the entire world need to come together, think together and act together to make that possible. Let us read what some of them have to say to us through their stories on SDGs, ponder on what they are trying to say, act accordingly and try and change our ways of life. Perhaps this is the only way we can ensure that human civilization is not wiped out of the face of this Earth.
